This is a picture I found on the internet of a book melting. This shows surrealism as it portrays how reading books takes a considerable amount of time and how this time quickly slips away without us noticing. The colourful bit where the book starts to melt is a connection to the actual book as we can see the word 'Art' on the front cover. It also contains patterns, which, once again, connects to the book and make the picture even more exciting. The white background has been used because it makes it easier for the photographer to make sure that the viewers are automatically being drawn to the book and nothing else.
This is my picture of books melting in a library. There is a desk present in the picture, suggesting studying for an exam or doing work. This is further emphasised by the library book all around the desk - the silence of the library is shown through the absence of any people or other desks. This represents the isolation people experience when studying in the library. The fact that it's only the books on the desks melting and not the ones on the shelf show that the studying is getting exhausting and is killing the individual as these are the only books they are studying from, they aren't interested in the other books. However, the lighting in the photograph is bright, contradicting the fact that studying is exhausting.
Both pictures show the effects of reading and studying on the mind if you do it for too long without taking a break. The techniques used are exactly the same but the backgrounds and scenes are different. Also, both pictures are colourful, this is done to attract the viewers and keep them interested in an exciting picture.
