Work Diary - Shoot Eight

For this session, I focused on motion blur. I decided to do both a studio and a location shoot so that I get the chance to explore on this particular effect. For the whole session, I had to constantly think about what I was photographing and how I was going to use the motion blur effect once I started editing on Photoshop. I thought this would be fairly easy as I could photograph any object and add the motion blur effect but I soon found that this wasn't the case. I couldn't just pick any random object to photograph as this wouldn't look very exciting once edited, instead, I had to find specific objects or scenes that would create exciting images and I found that scenes with depth were the best photographs to use this effect with.

Out of the pictures I created, I quite like this one. I like how the grass and path in the background contrast with my main subject - this helps him to stand out and further emphasises on his movement. The motion blur effect helps me to show movement without altering the settings on the camera, I think this is better as it allows me to manipulate the blur in anyway I want, thus making the movement as small or big as I want it to be.

I am planning to focus on silhouettes for the next session. I will be using the studio for this so I can use the lighting and manipulate my images. I will be focusing on people and maybe use silhouettes to portray miniatures.
