Work Diary - Shoot One (Initial Response)

During this session, I had the chance to try out the topic I chose; Photomontage. I chose this particular topic because I think this will give me a lot to work with and the amount of pictures I can produce in this topic is endless. After researching this topic, I found the pictures extremely interesting and I would love to recreate some both on location or in the studio. I think this will get me to look at Photography in a whole different way as we have not really looked at a surrealist approach yet. Also, I will have the chance to improve my Photoshop skills as Photomontage requires a lot of editing. After looking at some of the pictures behind this theme, I went out to shoot. I found this hard at first as I had to find ways in which I could combine two or more pictures together but after a while, I started thinking outside the box and got a few pictures. I found that I didn't get a lot of pictures, this is because I have to spend most of the time out shooting thinking about what I could take a photograph of and how I can edit another photograph into it. I think this picture came out really good considering this was my first attempt at Photomontage. I like how my subject is looking up at the tree; it gives the picture a more realistic look.

During the next session, I would like to spend more time on location and looking at what I can do to add variety to my work. I would like to work with the background of the scene rather than just my subject. Also, I like the mirror idea, where the reflection of the subjects are completely different than the actual subjects themselves, I would like to try this.
